The design team at Mu Mu Concept took inspiration from the client's affinity for solid wood and their desire to be closer to nature. By incorporating solid wood in the interior design and furnishings, the team was able to create a space that resonates with the client's preferences. The use of solid wood not only adds warmth and character to the space but also enhances the connection between the indoors and outdoors.
The highlight of the design is the living room and tea area, which are designed with a retracted ceiling to create a sense of separation. The receding sides of the ceiling are rounded with curved corners and indirect lighting, accentuating the organic flow of the space. The wood grain texture cascades down with the light, enveloping the public area in a soothing ambiance.
The meditation room, specially designed to meet the client's needs, is a sanctuary made entirely of wood. From the walls to the windows and cabinets, every element in the room exudes the natural beauty of wood. The use of wooden blinds for the windows adds a touch of privacy while maintaining a connection with the surrounding environment.
In terms of materials, the design team sourced logs from Laos for this project. Solid wood is not only used for the interior design and furnishings but also for the flooring, creating a seamless and cohesive look. The space is further enhanced with stone mosaics, tiles, mirrors, fossilized wood, iron, glass, and light strips, adding layers of texture and visual interest.
The 257 square meter space is a combination of two apartments, allowing for a spacious and well-planned layout. The entrance hall, strategically located at the center, serves as the focal point of the design. The layout follows a symmetrical and dispersed concept, with the public area at the center and the meditation room, tea area, and multi-functional room expanding outward.
Each family member's needs and preferences were taken into account during the design process. The master bedroom, designed in beige and gray tones, reflects the client couple's taste for a serene and neutral space. The light green bedroom, on the other hand, caters to the client's son's temperament and features circular imagery that connects the public and private areas.
The project was completed in January 2022 in Taiwan, showcasing Mu Mu Concept's expertise in creating a harmonious living space that embraces nature and promotes a sense of tranquility. The use of solid wood, combined with Oriental design elements, creates a unique and inviting atmosphere that invites residents to connect with the natural world.
This exceptional design by Mu Mu Concept was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023.
